Community Food and
Nutrition Skills
Level 1, 1 credit
If you are thinking of making healthy food choices for yourself or for you and your family, or you may have already started making changes but you would like to know more, this course is ideal for you. It will help you to develop your knowledge and skills of food by learning more about eating well, the benefits of good nutrition to health, creating balanced meals and planning healthy menus.
The sessions are fun and informal and are delivered flexibly e.g. either 2 hours every week for 3 weeks or 1 hour every week for 7 weeks. The course covers the following content

The Community Food and Nutrition Skills course is accredited at level one and is worth one credit (10 guided learning hours). This demonstrates the level of learning you have achieved and to gain credit for learning you must meet all the assessment criteria for the unit. No prior healthy eating knowledge is required, the sessions are suitable for both beginners and those who want to build on the knowledge they already have. There are no exams or essays to worry about, but to prove what you have met the assessment criteria the tutor will keep records of your progress and work completed throughout the course. Attendance at the sessions is an important part of the assessment. The course tutor will support you with all aspects of the course.
