Workplace
Workplace food and health initiatives are running in some areas. Here are some examples of workplace food and health initiatives:
Supporting NHS staff at BCUHB in North Wales
In support of ‘Wellbeing Wednesdays’ staff and visitors at the 3 main North Wales hospital sites were offered a meal for £1 every Wednesday during the initiative. Meals were selected from the All Wales Menu Framework that is used by NHS Wales’s caterers. To encourage staff to try plant-based meals many of the recipes focused on alternative sources of protein to meat e.g. beans, lentils and pulses. The initiative offered additional incentives to encourage staff to try preparing the recipes at home, including mini spice packs and a recipe book with nutritional information and analysis. Due to its popularity, the initiative has been re-run on several occasions since 2019 and continues to be a firm favourite with staff in 2021 with future opportunities to build on engaging staff in healthy eating activities and opportunities. This work forms an important part of the Welsh Government’s Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales theme ‘ healthy settings’ and ‘healthy NHS’.
